France’s most famous city Cannes held the most illustrious film festival of the world. Started in the year 1939, it is the foremost esteemed and oldest film festival that happens during the month of May every year .This festival was born during the days of a political grievance. It can be aptly said that all the recognized films around the world make their pilgrimage to the Cannes. During the festival days the city turns into a wonderland.

This year The Cannes International Film Festival, held from May 14-25 celebrated its 61st year. Name them and every famous personality was present, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Penelope Cruz, Madonna, Keira Knightly, Toby Young, Jude Law, Kevin Spacey, Lily Allen, Maradona, Clint Eastwood, Gwyneth Paltrow, A R Rahman ,Aishwarya Rai, with husband Abhishek Bachchan and many other actors,producers,directors to make fruitful  projects together.

And when so many celebrities are there can gossip be far behind. Every common man as also paparazzi waits for the gossips and quarrels and juicy news. Critics are not far behind waiting to point out the odd features. The festival this year saw Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg bringing back Indy, Celia Walden meeting Roberto Cavalli on his deluxe cruiser, Ray Winstone commented on Indiana Jones, and many other star talks.

Many films were premiered like, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Hunger, The Two Lovers etc. Most of the films are for the special screening for the directors, film makers and actors. Sometimes common men are also allowed to view them.
Many news channels brought up the actions live; the blogspots were filled with information.

Many awards were also given. For his documentary like fiction, respectable director Laurent Cantet got the Palme d’Or award. The last day of the festival saw the screening of his film “The Class”. Everyone from the film industries round the world is now waiting for the next festival to showcase their individual talents.
