Death Proof

Death Proof

Born in March 17, 1951, in Springfield, Massachusetts, as Kurt Vogel Russell, is a Golden Globe and Emmy award nominated ace actor from America. His career began at an early age of 10 years by working as an “ugly child” in an Elvis Presley film.

In 2007 Russell played the role of  Stuntman Mike McKay in the movie Death Proof.  A murder mystery film put pen to paper and directed by Quentin Tarantino revolves round the story of a stuntman who is a psychopath. His targets are juvenile women for assassinating them. He used his stunt car which was “demise proof” to kill them. This film was an accolade to the 1960’s-1970’s motion picture genus which involved muscle car.

The car plays a pivotal role in this movie. Kurt Russell does not seem to be very impressive as the ageing antihero flirting with the girls in the movie. The second part saw a change in character of Russell and this was rather ridiculous to be watched. He was out to kill some pack of girls but they were strong enough to brawl back and suddenly Kurt’s deadly charms change to submission.

This movie is the subsequent trait of Quentin Tarantino’s and Robert Rodriguez‘s “Grindhouse”.The director did a great job in Grindhouse but the same cannot be said for Death Proof. The reason behind killing the women was not clear. But Kurt Russell as an elderly psycho played his part along with substantial dexterity and crudity.

The movie was a box office mess. Many liked it many preferred to ignore it. But this movie can be watched due to the engrossing thrill from starting to the end and the great Grindhouse experience one has shared. The movie cannot be written off as it is worth every coinage.
